Eluvo

Endometriosis is a chronic illness that affects 1 in 10 women. With a range of frustrating symptoms and no definitive cure, the illness takes a toll on more than just the body. Without the information, support and resources that they need, endometriosis sufferers feel confused, frustrated and isolated.

Eluvo is an innovative app that empowers endometriosis sufferers by helping them to work with their bodies. Alongside this, it resolves the confusion and isolation of sufferers by making information accessible and fostering an empathetic community.

Eluvo originated as my 4th year honours project at Massey University. It has further progressed into the real-world and is in currently in development. Stay tuned for a release date!

Design Direction

Users would often be using the app in times of pain so it is important that the interface is simple and intuitive to use. I created a visual style that is calming and personal yet professional enough to gain the trust of users.

Users can track their symptoms and the lifestyle factors, like diet and physical activity, that may be contributing to them. This relies on accessible data analysis so that users can gain insight into these co-relations and gain a better understanding of their illness.

3 iphone screens displaying Eluvo's interface, the first shows a careplan with tasks to tick off, the second shows a slider for users to input their symptoms, the third shows a graph of the users symptoms. The UI is modern and features a peachy orange colour.

User Research

User research revealed that existing products on the market were not specific enough to the needs of endometriosis sufferers.

Eluvo users can tailor their experience to their own specific needs through selecting which elements they would like to track and seeing only information relevant to them. This is further enhanced by intuitive AI and machine learning that responds to each user's data in order to grow with them and respond with kindness and support.

This user-centric focus is highly innovative, contrasting from existing tracking apps that are highly clinical, gendered and focussed around fertility, excluding many audiences.

Integration with Healthcare

Eluvo is a tool to assist the existing healthcare system rather than replace it, therefore it is important that it involves healthcare professionals within its ecosystem. Users can export their data to a PDF for their healthcare professionals. A PDF is accessible as it can be attached to the patient’s existing notes and doesn’t interfere with hospital computer regulations. This makes incorporating Eluvo easy for busy healthcare professionals, though I do hope to create a desktop app in the future.
